What organizations can participate in Washington County Gives? Any Washington County, Maryland, nonprofit organization (other than a church, mosque or temple) can participate in Washington County Gives. All organizations must register through this website. Registration for Washington County Gives 2018 closed February 28, 2018.
Why should my nonprofit participate?

Is there a fee to participate? Yes. Nonprofit organizations with paid staff have a registration fee of $250, while organizations with volunteer staff have a registration fee of $50.
How does my organization register to participate? Complete the Nonprofit Registration Form if you did not participate in Washington County Gives 2017, or update your registration if you are a returning organization from 2017. For returning organizations, go to https://givingday.kimbia.com/ and enter your e-mail and password from last year to update your registration information. If the e-mail address is no longer valid, please e-mail Ally Sirbaugh at [email protected] to have your e-mail reset.
Once your online registration form is completed, download and fill in the Memorandum of Understanding and return the form with your registration fee to the Community Foundation. You may pay your registration by sending a check to the Community Foundation at 37 S. Will you provide training opportunities for my organization if I register to participate?
Yes. We will hold a training session for new organizations and/or new participants whose organization has participated in the past, but they have not, as well as training for returning nonprofits. Dates & times are as follows:
Friday, March 9 from 9:00-10:30 AM New Organizations (Training is mandatory for new organizations.)
Tuesday, March 13 from 9:00-10:00 AM Returning Organizations
Monday, March 19 from 9:00-10:00 AM Returning Organizations
Monday, April 9 from 10:00-12:00 PM Social Media Training with Kelsi Palmer & Melissa Fountain of High Rock
All training sessions take place at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce offices located at 1 South Potomac St.
In addition, we provide a Style Guide and Marketing Tool Kit with sample e-mails, suggested social media posts, logos and other marketing materials on the Toolkit page.

What organizations are eligible to receive donations and prizes? Any nonprofit organization (other than a church, mosque or temple) in Washington County, MD, with a 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter that registers with the Community Foundation of Washington County MD by February 28, 2018 and creates/updates a profile for their nonprofit on the Washington County Gives website can receive matching dollars and prize money. Please note that private non-operating foundations cannot receive donations through Washington County Gives and are not eligible for awards. This year we have a toal of $115,000 in sponsor dollars with $82,500 in matching funds and $32,500 in prize money.
Is there a limit to the amount an organization can receive during Washington County Gives? There is no maximum amount an organization may receive from individual donors.
How much of the donation goes to my organization? Kimbia assesses a transaction/credit card processing fee of 5.5% on all donations. Your nonprofit organization will receive 100% of any matching funds or prize money obtained during this event.
Will my organization receive donor information for acknowledgments? Yes. Every registered nonprofit will receive a link to an Excel file to access their donor information during the live event. We encourage you to reach out to your donors after the event and thank them for supporting your organization. You do not have to send out tax deduction letters because each donor will immediately receive an email confirming the gift receipt from the CFWC during the event. If not, please contact us and we can resend them a receipt.
Will you have any special events?
Yes. We will hold a Kick Off on Tuesday, April 24 from 8:00-9:00 AM at the Herald-Mail Press Room for the particiapting nonprofits and sponsors. Nonprofits must be check-in before 8:30 in order to be entered into the prize drawings. Thank you to our event sponsors: Chick-fil-a & the Herald -Mail.

Who can make a donation to Washington County Gives? Anyone can give. Donations made through the Washington County Gives website to registered nonprofit organizations are tax deductible and irrevocable. Contributions can be made via credit and debit card only.
What organizations participate in Washington County Gives? All 87 participating organizations are based in Washington County, Maryland, 501(c)(3) compliant and completed registration by February 28, 2018, for this event. See the Leaderboard for a full list of participants.
Is there a minimum or maximum donation?The minimum donation is $10. There is no maximum donation limit.
Can I give to more than one organization? You may make multiple donations to the same or different nonprofit organizations. However, only nonprofits registered with Washington County Gives may receive gifts during this event.
Is my gift safe and secure? Yes. The Washington County Gives website is powered by Kimbia, which provides a secure PCI-Level 1 compliant site for donations. Your personal information is protected when you donate through the Kimbia platform via washingtoncountygives.org or a Washington County Gives donation form on a registered nonprofit’s website.
How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit? Each participating organization has to pay Kimbia a transaction/credit card processing fee of 5.5%. However, the nonprofit organizations receive 100% of any matching funds or prize money obtained on May 1, 2018.
Does the Community Foundation of Washington County get a portion of the proceeds from this day? No, all of the funds donated May 1st go directly to the participating nonprofits. The CFWC sponsors Washington County Gives to promote philanthropy in the community and develop stronger relationships with local nonprofit organizations.
How am I recognized as a donor? You will receive an immediate thank you and your tax receipt from the Community Foundation of Washington County MD via e-mail. You can choose to make an anonymous donation if you prefer. Anonymous donors still receive a tax receipt, but will not receive a thank you from the nonprofit organization.
What is Advanced Giving? You can schedule your gift for May 1 by visiting this website between April 17-30 and completing the donation form the same way you would on the giving day. You choose which organization(s) you want to benefit from your gift(s). These advanced donations will then process and appear on the Leaderboard during the hours of Washington County Gives.
Can I give multiple times to help my favorite nonprofit win a prize? Yes and no: Yes, each time you give, your nonprofit has a chance to win the Grand Award for Most Dollars Raised. If an hourly Golden Ticket drawing occurs, your donation may help that nonprofit earn an extra prize. No, giving multiple times to your favorite nonprofit will not help them climb the Leaderboard to win the Grand Prize for Most Total Donors. The Leaderboard tracks each individual or unique donor who gives to that organization.
The Community Foundation of Washington County MD, Inc. and Kimbia, can modify any restrictions or conditions, if in their sole judgment, such restriction or condition becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community. As such, the Community Foundation of Washington County reserves the right to deny or condition the distribution of prize grants if, in the judgment of its board of directors, such restriction or condition becomes necessary.
